What It Means to Be a Certified Arborist

Take a second to think: what qualities do I want in a tree expert?

For one thing, safety. Dealing with trees can be a dangerous task, so you want a tree service that will minimize liability.

For another thing, you want expertise. You shouldn’t have to cut down your favorite tree if you don’t have to. You want a reliable tree service who will give you the most accurate, well-informed advice possible.

So, how do you find a tree service that embodies these qualities? Any tree service that uses ISA certified arborists is going to be your best bet. Certification by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) is the highest level of qualification that tree care professionals can receive. As a result, they are the most reliable when it comes to tree care decisions.

Below, our resident expert Carli explains what it means to be a certified arborist, and what steps one must take to get certified.

Hi, I’m Carli.

An arborist is someone who focuses on the health and safety of an individual plant or tree. My mom and dad are certified arborists and they had to do a lot of hard work to pass the exam and they used these books to help. They became certified arborists so that they could help the customers and learn more about the trees they’re working with.

After they studied really hard, they took the test in Creve Coeur. They had three and a half hours to finish it, which is a really long time. The test is over tree identification, tree pruning, tree risk management and safe work practices. Luckily, they both passed.

This is really helpful to Jackson Tree Service because when you call for help, they know exactly what they’re talking about and how to best help you.

The biggest reason to hire a certified arborist is because they know how to take care of your trees. If you call our office, my mom will send out my dad and his crew to trim your tree without hurting it.

If you are in need of an arborist or tree work, call my parents at Jackson Tree Service.

Thanks for watching. Bye.

So there you have it, folks. The sheer amount of studying and time that goes into an ISA certification makes certified arborists the most knowledgeable, prepared tree experts out there. So the next time you’re choosing a tree service, look out for one that employs certified arborists, like Jackson Tree Service. (And if they don’t advertise a certification, they’re probably not certified!)
