Carli:
Hey, Hattie, did you know there’s certain things you need to check your trees for in the summer?

Hattie:
Yeah, I have some tips.

Carli:
Cool, me too.

Hattie:
Did you know you have to check your trees for insects? Because if you don’t, it can get diseased and die.

Carli:
Did you know in the summer you have to check your trees for diseases? Some diseases like sun scald, oak wilt, and fire blood are very hard to get rid of. The best thing to do is to prevent them.

Hattie:
I didn’t know that, those are some really good tips. How about we go over here now so I can show you some more of mine?

Hattie:
Picking up fallen leaves and branches like this one is a great way to prevent spreading diseases.

Carli:
That’s really cool. Another one of my tips is by trimming and pruning your tree, it can make it look and feel much healthier.

Hattie:
The last thing I can tell you is to apply mulch to the base of your tree to help keep the roots wet.

Carli:
That’s really cool. The last thing I can tell you to do is to water your tree to keep your roots wet during the extreme Saint Louis heat and drought during the summer.
